Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) 2025-27 Extension – Provider update
Please refer to the latest fact sheet from the Department of Health & Aged Care outlining what existing CHSP providers need to know about the 2025-27 extension and associated program changes.
All CHSP providers will be receiving contact extension email notifications shortly if not already.
The Department of Health and Aged Care has produced a document that provides guidance on the actions Home Care Package providers and Short-Term Restorative Care providers should take to be operationally ready to transition to the Support at Home program.
The new Aged Care Act will start from 1 July 2025. It aims to respond to the issues facing aged care in Australia and puts the rights and needs of older people at the centre of our new aged care system.

The Department of Health & Aged Care are now inviting feedback on the funding arrangements for the new Aged Care Act.
This is Stage 2b of our consultation on the new Aged Care Rules. This stage covers most of Chapter 4 of the new Act, which is about the funding of aged care services.
More topics, including grants and accommodation payments, will be released for feedback at a later date.

The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has released a high-levelSector Readiness Planto assist the aged care sector in preparing for the new Aged Care Act from a regulatory perspective.
The plan provides a summary of the key resources that will be made available over the coming months. These will include guidance materials, webinars, fact sheets, videos, training programs and more on topics including:
strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards
provider registration
the Financial and Prudential Standards
worker regulation
compliance and enforcement
complaints handling.
The plan will be regularly updated with additional resources as they are confirmed, and the timelines for release may change subject to progress of the Act’s subordinate legislation.

New Financial and Prudential Standards will commence with the introduction of the new Aged Care Act from 1 July 2025. The new Standards set out the minimum requirements for good financial and prudential management of aged care providers. They are also designed to manage risks to people receiving care and the public.
Hosted by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner, Liz Hefren-Webb, this webinar will cover:
the requirements and provider obligations under the proposed standards
the provider’s role in strengthening financial and prudential operations
The Grampians Sector Development Team in conjunction with Gateway Health, Bellarine Community Health and West Gippsland Healthcare Group are pleased to offer a two-part series ofClinical/Care Governance Workshops facilitated by Claire Edwards, Founder ofb.school4homecare, TAG Health. These workshops are designed to empower organisations in community aged care programs with the skills and knowledge needed to develop and implement an effective clinical governance framework. Under the new Aged Care Act community aged care providers must have clear clinical governance frameworks which focus on ensuring safe, high-quality care for all consumers.
These sessions are suitable for Quality and Compliance Managers, Executive Management and Program Managers from CHSP Service Providers who are keen on mastering clinical/service governance, risk management and data proficiency.
